Over 20 million quintals output will be harvested from the 875,000 hectares land covered with seeds in north Gondar zone of Amhara Regional State, the Zonal agricultural department said. Speaking during a field visit organized in Takusa Woreda of the zone deputy department head, Fantahun tegegne said the output expected to be harvested this year exceed by four million quintals from that of same time last year.
Fentahun said the necessary select seeds and fertilizers are being supplied to farmers in the areas. Activities are also carried out to enable the farmers utilize agricultural technologies, increase productivity and ensure food security he said. Some farmers, who took part in the field visit, said they will exert utmost efforts to make use of new technologies and research findings to increase productivity and there by improve their livelihoods.
