Uganda crowned CECAFA for a record 12th time

Uganda crowns CECAFA championship title beating tournament surprise package Rwanda while Sudan upsets host Tanzania to take home the bronze.
A single defeat to Zimbabwe in the group stage popularly known “The Crain” Uganda managed to drive through the knockout stages to claim a record 12th championship titles twice coming from behind to a 2-2 draw then a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Rwanda under former Saint George, Super Sport, and Hilal head coach Serbian Mitto. Though heart breaking to Rwanda, it was most entertain9ng cup final complete with thrilling finale. Meddie Kagne & Andy Mwsengwa scored for Uganda while Kagne with a stunning volley then Oliver Karekezi’s own goal. “Hard work” and perseverance helped as win the title. Packing out early in the tournament, Ethiopia seats 10th in the table out of 12 participating nations only Djibouti and Somalia coming behind.
