Two new films in the local Amharic langueges, “Keyo” and “Samegn” will be on screen starting this weekend. Both romantic comedies are expected to be highly entertaining.
Keyo, literally means a light skinned person and “Samegn”, literally means kiss me are expected to be screened in Cinema Ampere, Sebastopol, Edna Mall, Alem Cinema, Embilta, Agona Serawit, Yoftahe Cinema and Akaki Kafdem Cinema. The show is also set to appear in Sebeta Jim Cinema and Debre Zeit Hiwot Cinema. According to the schedule the show appears at three hours intervals in each cinema hall. Three cinemas in Adama city Golyad Cinema, Mormor Cinema and Titas Cinema are expected to screen the film.
More than 25 young and veteran actors like Evian Emmanuel, Kassahun Fisseha (Mandela) and Kidist Asmelash played in “Keyo” film that takes one hour and 40 minutes. The film that was completed in the span of five months was made under the auspices of Zeraf Film Production. It revolves around the shenanigans of some of Addis Ababa’s youth to entice a foreigner through love and money and the events that happen surrounding this occurrence. The film’s producer is Elias Mulalem and Getachew Nigussie while the scriptwriter is Elias Mulalem and directed by Biniam Yohannes.
“Samegn” revolves around a blind artist who has a fiancée who likes to write plays around a lake and in this surrounding meets a musical keyboard player and falls in love with him.
The film’s producer is Endalkachew Lebeta and Alemnesh Tesfaye while the scriptwriter is Kirubel Samuel and directed by Yohannes Damte.
The film drew more than 25 up and coming and veteran actors including Alebachew Mekonen, Ermias Habtamu, Weyneshet Abedjew, Bemnet Taye and Yeshi Demelash commonly known for her singing judge role in the “Ethiopian Idol” talent show.
The cost of the film is 500 thousand birr. It takes one hour and 45 minutes.  The film that has been made under the auspices of One Planet Film Production took nine months to finish.
