Freedom of media, access to information act put into effect

The Ethiopian institute of the Ombudsman said the proclamation to provide freedom of the mass media and access to information, which was endorsed two years ago, has been put into effect. Institution Public Relation and Communication Director, Leuel Seyum said that the institution was working in collaboration with the Government Communication Affairs Office to establish public relations offices in government institutions at all level levels during the past two years. Leul said documents including the right to access to information and complaint management directive and provisions on the right to access to information were prepared by a taskforce formed for the same purpose. He said as per the proclamation government offices and public relations are responsible to disseminate reports and information that citizens seek in publications.
