Adama Wind Power Project construction, located 95 kilometers east of Addis Ababa, is said to be progressing well. The project that was launched on June 14, 2011 is expected to end within one year time. Currently 17 wind turbine towers have been installed by the contractor Hydrochina-CGCOC a joint venture of two Chinese companies.
With an installed capacity that can generate 51 mega watts, the project will have a total of 34 turbines laying on an area of about 12,428 square meters. The project is financed by Chinese Preferential Buyer Credit through China EXIM Bank.
