Lucy to face Egyptian side in Cairo

Ethiopian national women’s side, “Lucy” faces its Egyptian counterpart in Cairo for the first round first leg qualification to the 8th edition of the African nation’s Women’s cup final. Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa already booked a place in the cup final that will take place in Zimbabwe.
Lucy’s the Ethiopian national women side head coach Abraham Teklehaimanot and assistant Berhanu Gizaw called to camp for two weeks of preparation before their journey to Cairo. Thirty players nine from the former Central College which is now called Commercial banks, eight from Dedebit including Ethiopia’s most expensive female striker Birtukan G/Kristos, started preparation as of Monday camping in Wabe Shebele Hotel and practicing twice a day. Called-on for the first time since the home match against South Africa five months ago for 2012 London Olympic qualification final match, Lucy needs a fast track buildup so that they can get ready in time for Egypt, a side already with three international friendly matches . The return leg is in Addis Ababa in two weeks time then the aggregate winner will face the victor of the match between Namibia versus Tanzania. Sixteen sides are in for a two round qualification fixture so that the final four sides will join the big four Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa for the cup- final in Zimbabwe.
