The Great Ethiopian Run conducted the second five kilometer road race and children competition in Semera

On Sunday January 15 the Great Ethiopian Run conducted the second five kilometer road race and children competition in Semera, the capital of Afar Regional State, where over two thousand participants compete including children under the theme “Narrow the Gap” to Meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The road race aims to promote the eight MDGs set by the UN to reduce extreme poverty by 2015.
Ermias Ayele, General Manager of Great Ethiopian Run said that the race will also be conducted in the historical Harar town, capital of Harari Regional State. The race that will be held in the historical place commonly known as ‘Jegol’ is the first race of its kind in the town organized by Great Ethiopian Run. The Six kilometer Harar race will be held on January 29th and will be the final series of the 2012 MDG Races.
The Addis Ababa ten kilometer road race organized by Great Ethiopian Run became one of the biggest and popular road races in the continent.
