Lucy face Egypt today for historic victory

Ethiopian national women’s side takes its Egyptian counter part today at Addis Ababa stadium. Lucy needs just a 2-0 home victory to go through to the next stage.
Though it appears a high hill to mount considering the 4-2 first leg away defeat, it is not an impossible task for the home side to reverse the two goal disadvantage the visitor has. A high altitude and a passionate home crowd in love with Lucy, this will surely help the national side secure a win. It is long past history but it is not forgotten that Ethiopia’s junior side turned down a 5-0 first leg defeat to their Egyptian counter parts some years back.
The big burden appears to fall on head coach Abraham T/Haimanot and his tactical mastermind to lead Lucy to home victory. A shocking treatment that is an early surprise goal might give the home side full advantage to dictate the return leg. The visitors are expected to field a defensive line up to hang on their first leg 4-2 home victory. Thus an early attacking minded approach orchestrated by the likes of Birtukan G/Kristos, Rehima Zergaw and Shetaye Gemechu might easily see Lucy off an early start with out giving the visitors a breathing space. A home win is not the story all about it is rather booking a place for the next stage that is facing the aggregate winner of Namibia versus Tanzania. “I am sure Lucy will qualify with a flying color if they start with attacking football,” former player Eyasu Getachew told Capital Sport. “ I have some doubt in Abraham’s tactical maneuver but this time he has no option except an attacking football and sure Lucy will go through the next stage. Iyasu remarked.
