WB appoints new Africa Vice President

The World Bank has announced the appointment of Mukthar Diop as its new Vice President for Africa. Diop, a Senegalese national and a former country director for Kenya, will succeed Obiageli Ezekwesili who will return to Nigeria in early may after serving as the region’s vice president since 2007. A statement from the Bank’s offices in Nairobi said Diop, currently the World Bank’s Country Director for Brazil since 2009 will take up new position on may 6. A former finance minister in Senegal and chair of the West African Monetary Union (WAEMU) Board of Finance ministers, Diop joined WB in 2001 and served in various senior positions in the World Bank.
