Ethiopian commends dedication of employees

The Ethiopian Airlines commended its employee’s dedication. The company also presented certificates, plaques and awards to 215 who served from 25-40 years. Speaking at the company’s annual service anniversary and a ceremony to honor retirees on February 11, 2012 CEO Tewolde Wolde-Mariam said that the airline is where it is now thanks to the many years of dedication of its employees and commended the retirees for their perseverance. “The definition of retirement has changed In the 21st century and we need you both today and tomorrow he noted. Representing the Ethiopian Pensioners’ Association Worku Yitayew urged employees of the company to add endurance to knowledge and perform better to transform Ethiopian to even more advanced levels. According to Corporate Senior Vice President for Human Resource Mangemnt Elsabet Getachew of the honored employees 11, 22, 45, 88 served for 40, 35, 30 and 25 years respectively while 49 reached the legal retirement age. The retires include Ethiopian international employees from London, Lagos, Angola, Accra (Ghana), Dare es salam, (Tanzania), Milan (Italy) and other destinations abroad. Ethiopian was selected as the best airline in Africa by the African Airlines Association last November and is also ranked first by passenger’s vote as their first choice in an airline in Africa, via the African Aviation News Website.
