Delegates from South Sudan and Burundi discussed with the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) experts, Authority institutional arrangements and business opportunities in their respective countries. The Authority’s Planning and ICT department Deputy Director Bekele Negussie said that the Authority’s long years of experience and its road development programs have got recognition by the World Bank and other international institutions. “Accordingly, ERA shares its best practices on engineering procurement construction management and contact administration” he added. These practices are especially important for South Sudan as it is going to establish its new road authority. They are also expected to discuss with Ethiopian contractors the available business and job opportunities in their respective countries. Monyluak Alor Kuol board chairman of South Sudan roads construction on his part said that his delegation is here to interact with ERA and draw its experience to establish the South Sudan Roads Authority. “We choose Ethiopia because of ERA’s reputation as a leading and oldest road contractor in Africa,” he added. The delegates during their four day stay visited the Alemgena Training and Testing center as well as the Addis-Adama express highway project.
