Banks held St George

St. George FC was held to a 1-1 draw by Commercial Banks of Ethiopia in one of the make-up matches of the Ethiopian Premier League competition.
But despite the small setback, St. George was able to cut EEPCO’s lead to just one point with two matches on hand.
It is possible that St. George can overtake EEPCO on Monday when it faces 12th placed Defence Force.
In a mix up after a sensational Abebaw Butako’s free kick Yared Zinabu scored the only goal four minutes in to the game.  Back from international victory Saint George appears a side ready to demolish sixth in the table Commercial Banks. However the match that was so boring and has nothing to talk about except two red cards from each side, ended in a draw thanks to former saint George striker Binyam Assefa’s injury time equalizer. Many at the stadium even saint’s supporters expressed their dissatisfaction of the game some even asked the why of Italian head coach Danilo’s presence. “Sure we will reclaim the league title for the tenth time at the end of the season. But why in such unconvincing manner?” Saints unnamed supporter remarked after the game. Not only Saints but also Banks’ supporters were complaining about their side’s failure to live up to expectations after all that millions of Birr stashed away to new signings at the start of the season. Saint George stays second in the league table with 24 points and two games in hold while Banks seat sixth with 17 points.
