Coffee faces Al-Ahly while Saints meets Club Africa

An emphatic double victory over the weekend where Adane Girma and Medhane Tadesse out shine, Saint George and Ethiopian Coffee progress in to the second round qualification campaign.
Adane Girma’s hat trick plus rare goal item Yared Zenabu’s stunner, Saint George made it through  to 2012 Confederation Cup second round qualification campaign with an incredible 5-0 aggregate score line. In full command of the home match from the start, Saint’s next encounter is Club Africa of Tunisia. Whether that terrifying score line is because of Gabonese side AS Magnasport’s weakness or Saints superb performance is yet to be tasted against strong adversary from North Africa with the first leg match taking place in Addis Ababa.
Two second half astonishing substitutes from head coach Wubetu Abate, defending Ethiopian premier league champion Ethiopian Coffee made it in to Champions’ league second round qualification stage with emphatic 4-2 victory. Tafesse scored the third goal against the visitors Coin Nord from Comoros.
Coffee booked a place in the next phase to face Al-Ahly of Egypt.
Ethiopian Coffee secured passage to the second knockout round after crushing Mitsamiouli of Comoros 4-1 on Sunday for a 4-2 aggregate victory.
Their last meeting with Ahly, the record winners of the Champions League with six titles under their belt, was in the same competition in 1998.
The Red Devils were famously eliminated by their unfancied opponents on the away goal rule following a 2-2 aggregate draw in the competition’s first round.
Ahly, who last won Africa’s premier club competition in 2008, were given a bye into the round of 32.
