A little bit of Egypt comes to Addis cinemas this week

A film which predicted the Arab Spring four years before it happened will be shown along with other Egyptian films starting this Monday April 2 at the Italian Cultural institute at 6:30pm. The opening of this Egyptian festival will be attended by the Egyptian Ambassador and other Egyptian officials.
“Is it chaos” co-directed by Youssef  Chahine who won the Cannes Lifetime Achievement Award, before he passed away, along with director Khaled Youssef, predicted that continued injustice, corruption and lack of transparency would lead to the people of Egypt to revolt.
The influential film “Terrorism and Kebab”, a satirical political comedy which depicts a humble citizen frustrated by governmental bureaucracy to the point that he seizes control of one of Egypt’s most influential governmental positions is also featured.
The five day festival will show six contemporary and classic Egyptian films at the Italian Cultural Institute, the Ethio-French Alliance, the Addis Ababa University Institute of Ethiopian Studies and the Ethiopian National Theatre. All films will have English subtitles and entrance is free.
