According to latest media sources expected to be grazing land until the end of the current season, the former National Team’s popular striker is loved for his humbleness. Gebremedin ended lucky enough to sign a mouth watering two year contract pocketing 280,000 Birr, a new record signing fee in Ethiopia the only country that pays a signing fee for coaches; even for those booted out for poor performance. Gebremedhin’s luck appeared to shine further when Defense Force took the lead on Tueday’s showdown against the season’s surprise package Electric. However Gebre’s luck ran out during the final minutes thanks to his disarrayed attacking force plus the shaky goal keeping of national team goalie Yednekachew as Electric featured a strong come back to win 2-1.Though the Army side, appears to be in high spirits after a new head coach, it ended short of ammunition to keep its one goal lead thus a defeat that sent it down to 13th place in the table. “He is unlucky, throwing away such a moral boosting chance for Defense Force that boasts the likes of strikers Oumed Oukri and Chala Driba.
On the other hand Ashenafi Bekele’s debut match brought a smile to Diredawa Town football fans after a 2-0 victory over visitors Adama Town. Many expected the same fate to Ashenafi when he got sacked in mid season. However he got lucky and landed a job with relegation threatened Dire Town and an emphatic home win in his debut match taking the side out of relegation zone for the first time in recent months.
