After an astonishing hat trick over visiting Sidama Coffee, Dawit Fekadu has emerged as the latest star for title contending Dedebit FC. In three weeks they expect a further boost when their leading scorer Getaneh Kebede returns. His injury two months ago was expected to put a serious dent in their title hopes. But they have been rejuvenated by Dawit Fekadu’s six goals in four games. Now, thanks to goal differential, Sidama finds itself on top of the Premier League.
On Sunday the striker’s hat trick helped Dedebit demolish last year’s surprise package Sidama Coffee 4-0. Dawit’s amazing effort in all three goals means Dedebit FC could go all the way through the remaining matches and potentially take the title. Sources close to the club stated that leading scorer Getaneh could be available in time for the big home match against Mugher Cement in three weeks. Ethiopian Coffee target man Medhane Tadesse, Saint George’s Adane Girma and Mugher Cement striker Fetsum G/Mariam are jointly in second place after bagging 11 goals while Electric’s goal machine, Nigerian Philip Dawzi is third with 10 goals. Philip, who has scored two goals in three matches, was back in to action for the second round but a red card against Diredawa Town over the week end felled his effort as it means at least a three match ban and all but finishes his hope of obtaining the top scorer award.
