Commission announces asset registration progress

The Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (FEACC) said it has registered the assets of over 27,000 government officials and employees. Commission’s Ethical Education and Communication Affairs Director, Birhanu Assefa told ENA that asset registration of civil servants and government officials enables to prevent corruption, enhance transparency and build trust between government and citizens. He said the commission has so far screened more than 13,000 registered assets to give certificates. According to him, the commission is striving to weed out the root causes of corruption. The director said FEACC has intensified land, tax and finance administration, public procurement and sales, and as well as justice bodies as potential areas of corruption.
