WEF will be showcase to nation’s renaissance, create market link

World Economic Forum (WEF) which is to be hosted by Ethiopia soon will help showcase the renaissance of the nation in addition to  creating a market link to the business community. Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Ambassador Dina Mufti, Deputy Prime Minister Advisor, Professor Mekonen Hadis and Government Communication Affairs Office Head, Motuma Temesgen all said that the Forum is an opportunity to promote the image of Ethiopia. Over 200 foreign journalists and 700 participants will converge in Addis Ababa to attend the forum to be held under the theme “Shaping Africa’s Transformation.” Ethiopia was elected to host the previous meeting held in Cape Town, South Africa for its speedy development and reliable peace and stability, they said. The officials said the theme of the forum indicates that promising transformation is taking place in Africa. A nine-member committee organized for the facilitation purpose is undertaking preparation to provide the forum with reliable services; including telecommunications, power and transportation. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, the Forum was formed in 1971 as European Management Forum which was later, 1987, changed to World Economic Forum: “Entrepreneurship in the Global Public Interest.” Currently it has broaden its vision further and convenes top businesses and international political leaders, selected intellectuals and journalists to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world.
