Association of Women in Business

The Association of Women in Business (AWiB) draws professional women who come together to support and push each other to the max. Through an environment which fosters professional development and continuous learning, AWiB creates a culture of proficiency with strong-willed women who know how to get what they want.
But women are social creatures who want more than just business. Women are about friendship, connecting on an emotional level, supporting one another’s dreams… and yes, better ways of making money in a man’s world.
AWiB is run by women for women in business; canny women who lead their lives purposefully and seek to share their eloquence. On May 17, 2012, we offer you the opportunity of joining in the fun, learning and heartfelt discussions on the challenges of leadership, the relationships between employers and employees; issues of forgiveness and how to’s of negotiating your way to success.
Scheduled for May 17, 2012, at the UNECA compound, dynamic speakers include those who have wrestled with success and triumphed – Tadiwos Belete of the Boston Group; Yusuf Reja of Info Mind/ Ethio Jobs; Aster Solomon, founder of Enat Bank; and more.
AWiB is not just a “social” club; it is a vital network for businesswomen. We meet on the last Thursday of each month at the Hilton, discovering new visions and building new relationships… and yes, talking business.
Our moral compass is, “to give back to the community that sustains us all.” We find enterprising women who dare to dream but have not the capital, women who have the drive to make their dreams come true but have not the means and we give them the monetary push to begin their journey.
Every month, we extend our friendship to like-minded women in Ethiopia who would become not just members but sisters-at-heart. And every month we bring to our guests prominent personalities, corporate CEOs; representatives from government agencies and organizations like the World Bank, who address current issues, raise our awareness on pertinent topics, and point out new trends in the business and investment world. Every month, our members are the beneficiaries of knowledge from those who have outclassed the business gauntlet.
Becoming a member means joining hands with women in Ethiopia who know their worth and know what they are about. It also means access to AWiB’s members’ website and all the information that each member wants to share; not to mention… networking, networking, and networking. This camaraderie translates into business contracts and links, helping us all “to be in the know.”
