Skipping 41st Ethiopian Athletics championship

Ethiopian athletics federation announces 28 world renowned athletes to skip the upcoming Ethiopian athletics championship. The athletes listed are to place their focus on the international meetings to take place in Eugene and Hengelo, in order to achieve minimum requirements for London Olympic seating.
In a letter addressed to athletics clubs the federation asked for the usual understanding from the clubs since the athletes are engaged in a mission to represent their country at London Olympics. “Be informed the listed athletes are to be left out of the 41st Ethiopian Athletics championship taking place between 9thMay-13th, 2012,” the letter stated.
Seventeen from the list are long distance athletes, including 5,000 meter world record holder Kenenisa Bekele, his younger brother Tariku Bekele, and Abera Kuma all from Mugher athletics club. Seleshi Sehen, Belete Assefa, Azmeraw Tadesse, Lelisa Desasa and Tilahun Regassa are all from Federal Correction athletics side. World 10,000 meter champion Ebrahim Jeilan, Yetwale Kende and AsteduTsegaye are from Defense Force. Assefa Mengestu, Berhanu Diro, Mekashaw Eshete, Mosenet Germew and Hunegaw Mesfin are the athletes looking for Olympic minimal in 10,000 meter event. In Women’s 10,000 meter event 11 athletes are looking for a minimal. World great women athlete Turunesh Dibaba, World Silver medalist Meselech Melkamu, Worknesh Kidane, Wude Ayalew and Sule Utura are among the big names.
