GH Industrial Private Limited Company, engaged in the production of gypsum board and gypsum floor, will inaugurate two of its factories built near Dejen town of the Amhara Regional State, 230Km north of Addis Ababa, tomorrow.
The company which is established with a working capital of 120 million birr aspires to export its products to neighboring countries in addition to satisfying the domestic demand.
The gypsum board factory has a capacity of producing 4.2 million sqm of gypsum boards, while the gypsum mill has a capacity to produce 50 thousand tons of gypsum floors per year, according to Awel Buseri, Vice General Manager of the Company.
“The factories are imported from China and installed by Chinese engineers since they are turnkey projects. From conducting a feasibility study to installation, the project consumed almost two years,” he said.
GH Industrial is a sister company of HGMT Transport, a freight company based in Addis Ababa. The factories receive the raw material needed for their operation from Kurar, an area located in Abay Gorge. The gorge is identified as one of the most abundantly gifted area of Ethiopia for gypsum rock.
The gypsum board factory produces a 9 to 15 centimeters thick and 1.2 to 3 meters long board. They can be used for walls, floors and ceilings. The gypsum flour is used as finishing material and a component part of the gypsum board.
Following the booming construction industry of the country, the need for gypsum board is rising according to experts in the construction industry. Since the board is thin and light as compared to traditional building material, it saves cost, adds the expert.
