The Ethiopian Airport Enterprise and the national flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, introduced the first self check in kiosks at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport on May 22, 2012. The new service is expected to simplify the check-in process by reducing overcrowding during peak hours. It allows passengers to choose their seat and print their boarding pass. The flag carrier had already introduced an online check in service in October 2011. The airline plans to expand the new service to its destinations around the globe. Making its maiden flight to Cairo in 1946, Ethiopian now flies to 66 destinations globally spanning four continents.
