The Central Statistics Agency has launched the first Intercensal population survey meant to fill the information gap on demographic dynamism backing the regular census conducted every ten years and facilitate the designing of development pragmatic policies. Agency Public Relations and Data Dissemination Director Wudalat Gedamu said that as demand for statistical data is increasing, the survey is instrumental in providing accurate data to meet the demand of the general public, policymakers, NGOs and others. “TheI ntercensal population survey enables to evaluate and check the population dynamism to prepare timely demographic data after the third national population survey. She said the survey includes various social indexes such as ethnicity, religion, language, marriage status and educational backgrounds. According to her, the intercensal population survey will be conducted in 7,453 selected cities in all parts of the country May29-june 7 except Somali state.
