Government working to avoid power interruption

Water and energy Minister Alemayehu Tegenu said efforts are underway to properly use the power and avoid power interruption. Speaking at a half-day consultation with industry owners and potential consumers of the electric power here yesterday, the Minister said providing the power without interruption is in fact a challenge. However, the Minister said government is striving to address the power interruption as it is well aware of the case and delay to provide fast service to new customers.
Alemayehu said saving in power utilization and lack of application of proper equipment are the major problems on the part of industry owners. Power theft is the major cause for the power interruption, he said adding a mechanism has been put in place to control ill-motives. Some industry owners on the occasion called for a mechanism of early warning system for power interruption. They also urged the corporation to improve its delivery system and take measures on its unethical staff.
