Double strike hero Adane Girma leads the goal hunt

Saint George and national team striker Adane Girma with 20 goals is in pole position to claim the premier league season top scorer award for another consecutive year.. With both Getaneh Kebede of Dedebit FC (16 goals) and Medhane Tadesse of Coffee FC (15 goals)  the Saint’s marksman now leads the table in comfort.

Back from successful international matches, scoring the winning goal against Benin, Adane appears more confident and at ease with the ball. When the Saint’s demolished Mugher Cement FC on their own turf 5-0, it was Adane who contributed the most.

Determined to silence his critics about his performance in away matches he scored two goals against visitors Adama Town in the rematch on Wednesday under closed gates. The striker single handedly led the slaughter of Adama with the season’s biggest goal differential, seven nil. Five goals in two matches Adane’s goal tally reaches 20, five goals away from his contenders Dedebit’s Getaneh Kebede and Ethiopian Coffee’s Medhane Tadesse trailing.

Saint George having four matches remaining comparing with Dedebit’s two; Adane could even take a leisurely walk to retain his joint best scorer of the season crown and for the third time in the league’s history. Mugher Cement’s Fitsum G/Mariam is third with 14 goals and Dedebit’s Dawit Fekadu fourth one goal down.
