Authority projects 94 billion birr revenue in 2005 E.C.

The Ethiopian Revenue and Customs Authority said it plans to collect over 94 billion birr in revenue in 2005 E.C. The Authority said they have finalized plans to collect money across the business spectrum efficiently and quickly. 
Authority Education and Communication Director Efrem Mekonnen said that the Authority has put in place various strategies to collect the revenue as planned in the Growth and Transformation Plan. He said the authority is providing relevant information to tax payers and is improving its services. He also pointed to a new system that will allow people to know the amount of tax they owe without coming to the authority.
The director said the authority is working to standardize the revenue collected from Merkato areas and embrace traders into the tax nets.
