Survey set to generate 450 MW from geothermal power

The Ethiopian Geological Survey said activities are underway to reach a capacity of 450 MW of geothermal power by the end of the Growth and Transformation Plan.
Survey Director General Masresha Gebre-Sillassie said that a study is also being conducted on renewable energy resources. He said efforts are underway to generate 450 MW from Aluto, Tendaho, Abaya, Tulu Moye, Fentale and Kerbito areas in the coming five to seven years. Though Ethiopia is endowed with immense geothermal resources, it has not yet exploited it.
