The dramatic film “Yelomishita” is based on Adam Reta’s novel “Etemete Yelomisheta.”  The drama which opened this weekend at the National Theater portrays two lives during different historical periods that mysteriously intertwine.

A husband and wife fall apart when he suspects a newly born child does not belong to him and his suspicion drives him to drink. His alcoholism has fatal consequences that lead to the mother being scorned by the community as she is forced to raise the child on her own.
Meanwhile a woman named Lomisheta who is married to a lawyer has an affair with another man. Maverick Film Production and Abraham Gezahegn produced “Yelomisheta.” It features 45 actors and actresses and took a year and half to complete including the script writing, shooting and editing.
Elisabeth Melaku, Moges Chekol and Solomon Tesfaye are the major actors in the film which cost 750,000 birr to make and premiered to an audience well known in the Ethiopian film industry.
