Aviation sector continues to grow
The Ethiopian Civil Aviation said that the aviation sector in Ethiopia has been growing based on all measurable standards.
According to Authority Air Transport and Planning Director Endeshaw Yigequ currently Ethiopian civil aviation is competitive internationally and its safety record is among the best in Africa He said, the Authority encourages private sector involvement by offering privileges in line with the Investment Code such as duty-free importation and priority to work in the humanitarian and tourism sectors.
“However, they face financial constraints and shortage of competent aviation personnel,” he added,
In its five year plan , the Authority plans to raise the number of international passenger destinations from 58 to 77, improve its safety standard from 70 to 90 per cent, reduce the rate of accidents per 10,000 by 17 percent and also shorten take off and landing time from 25 to 10 minutes.
