State issues investment license
Ethiopian Airlines announced that tMore than 580 investors with over 9.3 billion birr aggregate capital received licenses to engage in various investment activities in Amhara state in 2004 E.C budget year, the state industry and urban development bureau said.
Bureau investment attraction and facilitation main work process representative Yitbarek Wubet told ENA Tuesday that the investors will engage in agriculture, industry, construction, hotel and tourism sectors, among others.
Yitbarek said upon going operational, the projects will create over 102,000 jobs.
Over 1.7 billion birr worth investment projects launched during the stated budget year have already created about 12,000 jobs.
Over 6,900 investors with nearly 109.4 billion birr combined capital have been engaged in various activities in the state since 1985 E.C. While more than 30 investors with over  212 million birr combined capital have also received licenses to engage in various investment activities in West Wollega Zone of Oromial State in 2004 E.C. budget year, the zonal investment office said.
The investors are engaged in the areas of agriculture, construction, industry, hotel and tourism, among others.
It said over 2,270 hectares is provided to 12 of the stated number of investors engaged in the agriculture sector.
So far, the projects have created over 5,540 temporary and permanent jobs.
Some 3,500 hectares is designated for investors, who will engage in different activities in the areas in 2005 E.C budget year.
