For those of you who are fans of Piano recitals, make sure you clear your calendar on Thursday, September 25th, 2012 for a concert by the well-known Francesco Taskayali who will be gracing fans with his mesmerizing sounds.
Francesco Taskayali published his first album titled “Emre” when he was just nineteen. He produced the entire collection of all the songs in “Emre” by himself. The songs are characterized by a minimalist and neo-romantic style, influenced by famous composers such as Michael Nyman, Yann Tiersen, Ludovico Einaudi. Francesco was highly influenced by these three as he was studying these and others with similar styles since he was seven years old.
It is said that the strongest trait of Francesco Taskayali’s artistic character is undoubtedly the ability to merge and express the evolution of distant and different composition methods, with the ambition of communicating by his music the human opportunity to join distant social and cultural worlds.
Thanks to its success on iTunes, the artist’s music is well known in countries such as Canada, The United States and Japan. The Italian born artist is considered to be the second most popular minimalist composer in Rome with more than 5,000 fans.
His musical education mixes minimalism and jazz with the tradition of classical Masters and with cinema soundtracks, and is enriched with a singular experimentation on odd rhythms, typical of Eastern music traditions which are very rare and unusual in Western music.
Critics have written that his compositions are able to stir up strong emotional feelings with the audience, and that draws the public towards him.
As he performs for the first time in our capital, it is with much anticipation that we wonder if his music will stir up similar emotional reaction here in Ethiopia.
His concert will be held at the Italian Cultural Institute and the entrance is free.
