Mazembe faces Esperance while Ahly meets Sun Shine

Defending African champion Esperance faces DRC giant TP Mazembe while five time champion Al-Ahly to face Nigrian champion Sun Shine FC in the two leg semi final clashes with first leg matches taking place next month.
Former champions and world club cup finalist TP Mazembe lukewarm approach for the away match against the Algerian side cost it the groups top spot and go for an easy pray Sun Shine that finished second from  group “A” where Esperance tops with five wins out of six that is 15 points. The Algerian underdog Berbuma Chelsea left Mazembe in to a surprise 1-0 home victory the winning goal from Jordan Opaki. In the group where Egyptian giants Al-Ahly and Zamalek meets were a classical rivality clash in which the final score line end in 1-1 draw. Bottom of the group Zamalek managed to give a shocking opener through Mohammed Ibrahim two minutes in to the break where as the face saving equalizer from Mohammed Barakat saved the day for the home side. Topping the group with 11 points Al-Ahly landed an easier semi final encounter against Sun Shine while TP Mazembe  to face the defending champion Esperance currently the most successful side of the continent tasting the first defeat after 26 consecutive wins. Al-Ahly favorite for the cup final thus the dearly awaited clash is between Mazembe and Esperance.
