About 500 trainees graduate from College


Close to 500 trainees graduated from Wolkite  Polytechnic College  on Sunday  in regular and extension programs. Over 180 of the graduates are female.  Speaking  at the graduation ceremony, Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Regional  State (SNNPR) TVET Training Bureau head, Almaz Bayero, said TVET training plays a significant role  in generating  skilled manpower  to realize the industrial  goals set by the country.  She called on graduates to exert maximum effort  to make the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) a reality.  The College Dean, BiruMigora, on his part said the college has offered trainings and industrial extension assistance to 108 Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs).  He said the college has also trained close to 200 prisoners in wood and metal work, cobble stone construction and garment technology in collaboration with the Wolkite  penitentiary. According to him, the college has also granted scholarship to 24 destitute trainees. The college is ready to enroll a total of over 2,500 trainees in this academic year.
