Bahir Dar University to enroll 40,000 students

Bahir Dar University (BDU) said it is set to enroll 40,000 students in this academic year. University Academic Affairs Vice President, Dr. Firew Tegegne, told Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) that the University has completed preparation to enroll the stated number of students in regular, continuing and distance education. He said over 17,000 of the students will be enrolled in the regular program while over 7,000 of them will be new entrants. According to him, the University is undertaking expansion construction at a cost of over 1.4 billion Birr. The construction of agriculture and law faculties have been completed, he said. The University has already installed workshop machineries with a view to providing practical education to students assigned in line with the 70/30 program for natural and social science streams respectively.
