Ethiopian national team head coach Sewnet Bishaw axed three players and announced  the 23 members’ of the team that will be traveling  to the 29th African Cup of Nations. South African based striker Fikru Tefera has been taken out from the list although he has mentioned in his recent interview that he was hopeful to be included in the final list. Sewnet and his assistant Seyoum Kebede made the twenty three players list official after Wednesday’s training taking  out three players from the final list including American based Abdulaziz Aman. The other two players who are taken off from the list  are goal keeper Dereje Alemu of Sebeta and defender Aklilu Ayenew from Dedebit.
“It is very hard to leave behind these players but it is a must to travel with only twenty-three players. All have done their best so far in the campaign” Sewnet commented later announcing his team. Three goal keepers with Ethiopian Coffee’s Jemal Tasew being the first choice, Sewnet included two of the foreign based player’s such as notable midfielder Yusuf Salah from Sweden who is likely to join the starting lineup because of  his impressive performance on Sunday. American Major League based footballer Fuad Ibrahim is the striker that got the green light from the head coach to fly to South Africa. Eight players each from Saint George and Dedebit FC, all of them are said to have good communication and understanding between them thus “Walias” are ready for the cup final.
“We have seen in the match with Niger that we can alternate our tactical play from attack to defense when the need arises.  Our target is to win a place in the knock-out stage and for that we are ready to wage war” Sewnet remarked to reporters.
