Town gets access to 24-hour power supply

The town of Gelegu, which is capital of Quara woreda in the North Gondar zone of the Amhara Regional state, has recently obtained access to round-the-clock supply of electric power. According to the woreda administration, the town benefitted from the service following the installation of 80 km of electric cables from the Metema woreda. Woreda chief Bitew Asaye said that the service will help boost investment in the area. Residents of the town on their part lauded the efforts of the government to enable the town to benefit from the service. They also expressed conviction that businesses and investment activities would be bolstered in the town. The town has a population of over 60,000 people. The woreda is suitable for sesame and cotton development.
