Hawassa Town takes over premier league top spot

Hawassa Town pushed off Dedebit from the shelf to return back on top of the Ethiopian premier league driving seat after a 2-0 away victory over lowly Adama Town. Wondemeneh Bekele and Meskele Mulugeta scored for the visitors taking them to the top with 22 points in ten matches.
A 2-1 win over rival Ethiopian Coffee, Dedebit stayed on second place by a point below the leaders. Getaneh Kebede scored the opener while Gezahegn Ashamo equalized shortly. Then Behailu Assefa grabbed the winner to take home all three points taking the tally to twenty one. Destroying Muger Cement to 3-0 score line, Electric is back on the fourth spot with goal differences. Without skipper Asrat Megersa due to injury, Electric managed to take full control of the match by taking all three points. Addis Negash found the back of the net twice with Nigerian Samuel Saanumi grabbing the third. Resting many of its star players, defending champion Saint George settled for a goalless draw with former rival Defense Force.
The Army side has had many goal opportunities but failed to score any. Arbaminch Town hammered down visitors Harar Brewery to 2-0 victory to climb up to 6th spot collecting 15 points from ten matches.
Ashenafi Bekele from Sidama Coffee missed the chance to defeat his former club Commercial Banks at Yirgalem Town. Sidama Coffee stayed 8th with 13 points while Banks 11th with just eight points form ten matches.
Dedebit’s target man Getaneh Kebede tops the goal scorers chart with 10 goals followed by Insurance’s Mohammed Nasir with 8 goals. On Wednesday Ethiopian Coffee will face Electric while Hawassa Town entertains Dedebit FC for the week’s biggest clash. The defending champion Saint George will play against Insurance.
