Hotel Nazrawi, a new luxury facility, will be joining the hospitality industry in time for the 50th anniversary of the African Union (AU).
The new hotel was established at a cost of 150 million birr and plans to open its doors to the public in May, this year.
The ten-storey Hotel was built on an area of more than 600 square meters and is located on Gabon Avenue (on the road from Olympia to Meskel flower), about 6km from Bole International Airport.
Negussie Awgechew, general manager of Hotel Nazrawi said that the Hotel is endowed with a panoramic view and offers services of a modern restaurant, a roof-top bar and fitness facilities including a spa and a morocco bath. It also has a business center as well.
According to the general manager, the new hotel has 55 rooms that include presidential-style suites, executive suites and standard rooms.
“All guests will be met at the airport by Destination Connect @ Addis hotel, which is an independent firm which will provide shuttle service to and from the hotel free of charge,” he said. “Additionally, the hotel Will have a tour and travel office apart from other amenities,” he informed Capital.
“The hotel aims to offer different and extraordinary facilities. The Hotel management is set to open in early May 2013 with fifty five fully-furnished world class suites and rooms and has a well-trained professional staff,” he added. “We have observed and gained experience from the services provided by hotels in other countries to accommodate and provide the best possible service and facilities to our guests,” he explained.
With the increase in international conferences and events being held in Addis, new high-standard hotels are sprouting in the capital and its surroundings. However, even with the hotel boom observed in Addis Ababa, the seat of the African Union (AU) and THE United Nation Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the demand and supply gap is still huge, according to experts.
Negussie said the market is still expanding. “Due to that fact, his company has plans to expand its activities with additional new facilities,” he said.
He further said that his company is in the process of expanding its holdings behind the current facility.
The hotel management spent significant time improving the hotel’s standard. Hotel Nazrawi has secured land for expansion on more than 700 square meters next to the current site of the hotel. The design for the expansion shows an eleven-storey building, which will include rooms for private meetings, a conference and wedding hall, a solar-heated indoor swimming pool, another health care spa, a gymnasium, 108 luxury suites and rooms, a stylish lobby bar, themed dining outlets with a signature restaurant and will also include office and retail space, as well as an underground parking for 60 to 70 cars.
“Our restaurant specializes on a mix of contemporary American cuisine with classic French cuisine,” the general manager explained.
Initially, the new facility will create job opportunities for over 60 employees. Hotel Nazrawi is owned by a prominent businessman, Wondwossen Mengistu, who is also head of Nicon PLC, which is engaged in several business activities related with transportation and shipping.
