Quality management trainings offered by ECAE

The Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise (ECAE) in collaboration with Quality Austria is to commence trainings on quality management for industries, government institutions and individuals who are directly working in the field and in related disciplines.
With the aim of providing industries and service providers with skilled and trained personnel in quality management, ECAE has teamed up with Quality Austria to offer trainings on Quality Management Representative (QMR), Quality Management Internal Auditor (QMIA), and Quality Management Technician (QMT).
“Our aim is to help local and export-oriented industry, governmental institutions and individuals improve their knowledge about management systems, especially in relation to quality,” said Gashaw Tesfaye, Deputy Director General for ECAE. ECAE will start offering the courses in June, according to Tekie, head of Corporate Communication for the enterprise.
According to Gashaw, the enterprise, in conjunction with Quality Austria, will be offering even more training courses related to the environment, health, safety and integrated management systems in the near future.
Trainees will not be required to pay fees right now. Deutche Gesellschaft Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), through its Quality Infrastructure Project, is covering the costs for the training, Tekie informed Capital.
The European Organization for Quality (EOQ) will award certificates for participants of the training, which will take from 4 up to 10 days and is internationally recognized. According to the press release ECAE sent to Capital, target groups for the courses are people with the responsibility for the interpretation and/or maintenance of quality management systems, managers and junior managers who need basic qualification in evaluation and auditing management systems. People who are in charge of the integration and further development of quality, environmental, health and safety management systems are also eligible for the trainings. The Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions had been conducted from February 5 to 16 by Quality Austria.
According to Klaus Ehret, Co-Director of ECAE and GIZ Advisor, ECAE will learn a lot from conducting these trainings. “It provides ECAE instant access to a wide range of Quality Austria’s international certification and qualification programs.”
ECAE, the major conformity assessment organization in the country providing inspection, laboratory testing and certification services to the public and to the industry,  was established in 2011 under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST). The enterprise has 8 offices strategically located throughout Ethiopia. It has commenced incorporating standards or conformity labels on all locally-produced and imported goods.
