To create awareness on the seriousness of road accidents in Ethiopia, Total Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Labor and Social Affairs Bureau of the Addis Ababa city
administration, celebrated the ‘World Day for Safety and Health at Work’ on April 26 at the Dreamliner Hotel.
The ceremony, with the motto “Total commitment to Safety for ME, for YOU, for ALL”, incorporated workshops attended by the management, employees, fuel transporters, contractors, customers and service station dealers, and was a good opportunity to stress the importance of all actions taken by the company to improve road safety, according to a press release Total sent Capital.
With almost 500 trucks on the road every day, covering more than 30 million kilometers per year, road safety is a day-to-day challenge in Ethiopia. In fact, the country has one of the highest incidences of road accidents globally.
Total Ethiopia, in a show of its commitment to social responsibilities, had recently celebrated the ‘World Malaria Day’ Campaign in the town of Serbo, 330km Southwest of Addis Ababa, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH), Serbo town Education Bureau and Malaria Consortium.
