A four category Cycling race took place in Addis Ababa to mark “Autism Month”. The event organized by the Ethiopian Cycling Federation was not only to mark the month but also to create awareness among the society about autism.
Though hard to say whether it is because of Good Friday or the new race venue that is surrounding the historical Adwa Bridge, the race was one of the most exciting races in recent time that kept viewers in constant speculation.
In the first category that is Juniors Mountain Bike, where 15 racers took part, Solomon Alemu from Yeka Woreda crossed the finishing line first ahead of Imad Said of Bole Woreda and Abebe Beyene of yeka Woreda coming second and third respectively. The Girls category that brought together ten cyclists turned out to be one of the best races of the day.  Eyerusalem Dino of Garad PLC finally took the crown after a full domination of the 20KM showdown, while Meta Abo Brewery duos Hadinet Asmelash and Tigist Lemma finished second and third respectively.
In the men’s mountain bike category, twenty two riders took the center stage for the 25 km showdown. The race held little excitement with Simachew Lemma from Garad PLC winning first place easily. Tabour Demissie a private racer took second place followed by Garad’s Ibrahim Mohammed.
The day’s biggest event, the senior’s course with twelve racers was a back breaking 50km competition.  Ashenafi Tadesse from Ehil Neged formerly known as Agricultural Marketing crossed the finishing line first with Meta Abo duos Berihun Merso and Fitawoke Bete second and third respectively.
