Ethiopia’s ambassador to Germany said it is in Ethiopia’s interests to strengthen ties with the European country.
“We have identified economic co-operation as one of the most important pillars… If we work hand in hand on this, we can galvanise resources to better the two countries,” said Fesseha Asghedom who is also accredited to Poland and Czech Republic, at a meeting of the Polish-Ethiopian Parliamentary Group in Warsaw.
Ambassador Fesseha said it was important to develop relationships between the private and public sector in the two countries. He also discussed opportunities to establish cultural and educational ties.
Meanwhile, a Polish parliamentary group is scheduled to visit Ethiopia before the end of October.
Ethiopia’s ambassador paid tribute to the work of Jacek Jankowski, Polish ambassador to Ethiopia, for his commitment to expand economic co-operation between the two countries.
Jankowski said Polish companies will visit Ethiopia with an interest in investing.
He also promised a number of ministerial visits to Ethiopia and that: “a four-year cultural agreement will be signed between the two countries.”
Ethiopia’s ambassador in Poland has met with more than 40 Polish companies to discuss opportunities in Africa’s second most-populous country.
An Ethiopian diplomatic delegation on visit in Poland has met with companies from the infrastructure, service, pharmaceutical, IT and agriculture sectors.
Modern diplomatic relations have existed between Ethiopia and Poland for more than half a century.
Annual trade between the two countries generates $13 million.
