With two games in hand, Dedebit FC has been crowned as the 2013 Ethiopian Premier League champions following the 4-2 demolition over visitors Hawassa Town. Target man Getaneh Kebede has been in search of the ten year old record held by former National Team, Electric and Ethiopian Coffee striker Yordanos Abay.Dedebit’s victory over Hawassa Town on Tuesday means that the champions are sitting on top of the League’s table with 55 points, 11 points clear from second place Ethiopian Coffee which has 44 points.  16 years since its foundation, Dedebit stripped the championship title from Saint George becoming the fifth club to win the Premier League  next to Electric, Saint George, Hawassa Town and Ethiopian Coffee.
With two consecutive draws with Defense Force and Insurance, Saint’s Head Coach Michael Kruger failed to defend the title in his first season with the team.
In the mean time, Ethiopian Coffee demolished Electric with a 3-0 score line. The goals were scored by Mulualem, Mesoud and Efrem Ashamo strengthening the team’s runner up spot with 44 points.
The Power Corporation under Bulgarian Head Coach Yordan poorly performed on the second round taking it to the 6th place on the table with 36 points. The surprise result came from Water Sport’s 1-0 victory over Commercial Bank.
Defense Force with a 2-1 away victory over Arba Minch Town, sits fourth on the table with 40 points. Getaneh Kebede’s goal tally reached 22 which are two goals short of the record held by Yordanos Abay while he was with Electric. Two matches in hand and with Getaneh at his best, a new record may appear at the end of the season.
