Ethiopian businesses to take part in Paris Investment Forum

Ethiopia will be sending a business delegation from various companies to the ABC Investment Forum that will be held in Paris, France, in November. Other countries invited to the Forum include Tanzania, Ghana, South Africa and Kenya. The Ethiopian delegation will mainly include companies from the industry sector.
More than 100 major European companies from various sectors such as manufacturing, finance and information technology have also been invited to take part in the forum. The objective of the forum is to offer a Business-to-Business (B2B) platform to build partnership opportunities between Africa and Europe as well as to hold discussions on major projects and investment opportunities in Africa.
The event is also designed to provide an effective venue for foreign participants looking for beneficial links with local companies to expand their market reach by introducing their products into untapped markets, sources say.
European countries, whose economies are fairing poorly due to the financial crisis, are looking to invest in emerging markets such as Africa. The event will provide an occasion for delegates to showcase their products and services, meet with French and other European B2B partners, discover business services designed to improve competitiveness and working conditions such as labor mobility, insurance, innovation, social protection, cost optimization, performance marketing and sales.
The President of the Ethiopian Chamber of Sectoral Associations (ECSA), Gebrehiwot Gebre Egziaber, stated: “We are looking for a combination of a modern approach to business, partnerships and sub-contracting import-export opportunities. On top of introducing Ethiopian export products during the course of the event in Paris, we hope for the conclusion of partnership deals, especially under the cover of management agreements or other opportunities for transfer of technologies and expansion of trade and investment.”
By participating in the Forum, the delegation will be able to seek business and networking opportunities with European and African businesses through a series of events including exhibitions, seminars and discussion groups.
