In the diverse and seemingly disconnected, directionless turmoil collective humanity finds itself in, the problematic of chronic imbalances (of all sorts) underlies probably the totality of all pervading crisis! Imbalances in the natural environment, globalized economics and polarized social existence constitute the current paramount dislocations! The whole unsustainable schema of the dominant species of the planet (Homo sapiens) seems to be increasingly facing its final systemic denouement or catabolic.
For example war is a racket waged by the few and suffered by the many, in order to protect the ill-gotten wealth of psychotic oligarchs/bankers and their hangers on, as the US General taught us a while back. ‘War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses. I wouldn’t go to war again as I have done to protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket,’ the US Marine Corp General, Smedley Butler.
It is obvious the homes of the masses are/were being confiscated by the various manipulative schemes of global bankers/oligarchs. The US ‘Bill of Right” is now also in tatters! One wonders; if the General was alive today, what would he have done? Perhaps he might have dared to wage a war (over these issues) against those who continuously perpetrate such heinous crimes. The likes of Edward Snowden are probably doing just that, in their own peaceful ways/war against the Orwellian global regime. The racket, as the old General clearly put it, has currently taken empire’s war to far flung places like Iraq, Libya, etc.! By and large, the various wars, turmoil, upheavals, conflicts, etc. that are taking place in different localities on our globe are only imbalances essentially caused by the excessive greed of the .01% of global population, in its ambition to fully subjugate collective humanity. Ultimately this gross imbalance will inevitably ‘hit the fan’!
Another imbalance that is driving the global beast (human mass) to the wall is gross and grand corruption that is already built in the system. Gross/grand corruption cannot be avoided when the whole existential set up is founded upon it. Nonetheless, resistance is consolidating against this rampant malaise across all oceans. Even in places where turmoil is now the order of the day, various opposing groups have realized it is because of excessive mal-governance, (which is just another manifestation of corruption-corrupting peoples’ trust) they are at war against each other. In the long run, without tackling the root causes of global/local corruptions, (in its generalized form) there will be neither peace nor prosperity on earth! To start with, the global economic model itself is the epitome of unmitigated corruption of reality, a fraud that needs debunking. As one astute observer humorously put it: ‘Anyone who believes exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist.’ Refreshingly, there are also those souls, like Prof Victoria Bateman of Cambridge, who gracefully acknowledge their blunder; ‘if you want to hang anyone for the global economic crisis, hang me – and my fellow economists.’
In our country the ascending culture of corruption and its celebration must be tackled by all and sundry, if we are to avoid scenarios that prevail in MENA (Middle East & North Africa.) When an estimated 67% of real estate; luxury villas, office complex, hotels, etc. are corruption-borne, it is time to rise up and make a stop to the whole nonsense. It doesn’t matter whether the perpetrated corruption is executed/facilitated/geared by high officials of the ruling party/government or just neighborhood ruffians, it must be urgently addressed! The sickening motto of ‘stealing one’s way from rags to riches’ must be ostracized and penalized severely, as it is not only an affront to public decency, but is also an insult to our collective intelligence. For the last twenty years empty suits packing formidable incompetence, glorified mediocrity and laughable integrity have been leading important institutions of the state, the market and civil society. Such idiocy, which came about as a result of ‘ideology of nepotism’ must be dealt with swiftly, as the public is visibly running out of patience! Time is now ripe to baldly challenge all the connected psychopathic oligarchs and their accomplices, (within the state and outside) who have abused people’s trust and broader social decency!
Humanity is at a crossroad, to use a worn out cliché and we believe it is time for honest deep reflections about everything we do. Desperate clinging to regurgitated, outdated learning and doing will not bring solution to our excessive imbalances. As one of America’s writer observed, rather impartially: “An era can be said to end when its basic illusions are exhausted. The central illusion of the age of capital -unbounded economic growth- may be ending.” Arthur Miller. Good Day!
