The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) held its 16th General Assembly on Friday at ERCS training center located on Debrezeit Road.
The society which has 78 years of service in the country, said it is finalizing preparations for the long awaited construction of its building at Filwuha area. The president announced at the general assembly that the construction work of the building is given to MIDROC Construction.
ERCS is expecting a net income of over 20 million birr from the latest lotto game it conducted for several months via the number 8100 SMS.
The government has also pledged a 20 million birr support every year for three consecutive years for the construction of the building.
The government has also raised the regular annual subsidy of the society from 4 million birr to 5 million birr, according to Daniel Tegenu, President of the ERCS.
