If the country’s telecom is ever privatized Vodacom will be ready.

They opened a representative office in Addis, on December 3 to be in poll position if Ethiopia ever opens the telecom sector to international companies.
We have enterprise clients here in Ethiopia and we will be servicing them until the moment the market opens, Romeo Kumalo, Chief Operating Officer for Vodacom International Business said.
According to Kumalo Ethiopia is a significant market for Vodacom. “We obtained our investment license and commercial registration several months ago, allowing us to establish a presence in Ethiopia,” he said at the opening ceremonyof the representative office held on December 3.
“We hope to develop a long-term relationship with the Ethiopian people to learn more about this exciting market,” said Kumalo.
“We are keen to play a part to boost the sector in any way possible and we hope to learn from the Ethiopian people and humbly contribute our experiences in the telecom sector and participate in the growth of the Ethiopian economy.”
On the same day, Vodacom signed a partnership agreement with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) to establish ‘low cost and highly effective neo natal intensive care units’ in Shashemene and Sodo hospitals in Oromia and Southern Nations, Nationalities’ and People’s regional states, respectively.
