The yearly awaited Acacia Jazz & World Music Festival is to be held February 8 at the Tropical Garden.
Although the list of performers is yet to be announced, the event is expected to be bigger and better. Last year’s festival was not as convenient to attend as previous ones because the performers played at venues throughout the city throughout a weeklong period. But this year, the festival has moved back to the Tropical Garden where the environment always set for a laid back mood and all of the acts are expected to play that day.
Well known Jazz band Subtone, established in Berlin Germany in 2005, are set to perform at the festival. The band is said to be at the forefront of today’s young innovative jazz ensembles. The group has a well established following and has had performed at musical festivals in several countries. Among the many are: the Bohemia Jazz Fest in the Czech Republic and Jazz Baltica in Salzau, Germany.
Besides receiving many positive reviews, the group has also won several awards such as the Jury and Audience Award of the International Jazz Competition and the “Tremplin Jazz d’Avignon” in France.
Subtone is set to perform at the Acacia festival on February 8th 2014 along with many local and international artists.
The Acacia Jazz & World Music Festival, which is now in its 5th edition, is organized to promote music, family, community, and culture.
This year’s festival is expected to include more diverse local and international musicians from West Africa, Europe and America, according to the organizers. In addition to the music, the festival will include local and international foods, children’s games, art and craft vendors and more.
