The Pankhurst family inaugurated an autobiography of Richard and Rita Pankhurst entitled Ethiopian Reminiscences at the Sheraton hotel on Tuesday. The book, which contains pictures of historical events in the Pankhurst’s lives was published by Tsehay Publishers. The launching ceremony was organized by the Ethiopian Development Research Institute in collaboration with Gigi Sebsibe. Prior to the event, the Christensen fund purchased 200 books which will be distributed to libraries in Ethiopia. Previously, the book was only available in the United States.
Alula Pankhurst, the son of Richard and Rita Pankhurst, asked the invitees to donate to the New Institute of Ethiopian Studies Library. The Library which will be dedicated to Richard Pankhurst will contain books and manuscripts on Ethiopian lore which are not available anywhere else. Sheikh Al Ahmoudi financed the construction of the Library but Alula said more funds are needed to finalize the construction and furnish the building. President Girma Woldegiorgis, Tedros Adhanom Minister of Foreign Affairs and Professor Andreas Eshete were among the distinguished guests.
