Leading French wine maker Castel uncorked its bottled wine on Saturday March 22 at the vineyard located in the outskirts of Zeway town.
The Launching ceremony was attended by several high level dignitaries including Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn (pictured above left) with Vice president of Castel Groupe Michel Palu and Philippe Castel one of the 8 brothers of founder and President Pierre Castel. The two lines the winery introduced are Rift Valley and Acacia. A majority of the product is to be exported to countries such as China, America, German, Italy, France and neighboring African countries. So far Castel invested over 25 million Euros in the factory and vineyard. Out of the 450 hectares allocated to Castel, the factory and farm rest on a 120 hectare plot of land and the company plans to cultivate the 300 Hectares of virgin land available.
